The “Evil Eye,” known as the “Nazar” in Turkey, dates back more than 5000 years. It’s found in all major religions and throughout numerous cultures, it is said that the eye protects the owner from evil spirits, jealousy, and “ill will” of others, by peering back at them from the spiritual realm.
In Greek culture, the “Mati” is a curse said to be given by a malicious glare that can cause bad luck or loss. Wearing an evil eye somewhere on your person wards off this curse and protects you throughout the day.
